Lectures & Hands-On Workshops on Millinery and Dress History
In the 1500s, Henry VIII decided who could wear what hat (as one does), and a couple of centuries later, Swedish political parties were naming themselves “Hats” and “Caps”, showing their representation by their headweare . Then, of course, hats nearly drove beavers to extinction in the 19th century.
Needless to say, hats have always been more than just a fashion statement—they’ve shaped history, society, and the way we see ourselves.
Whether you’re a company, school, or group of enthusiasts, my lectures and workshops offer a fun, insightful dive into millinery’s past. Available in-person or online, these sessions combine historical accuracy with a good dose of humour and practical knowledge, and of course they can be tailored to your interests and needs.
